Competitive salary, dependant on experience
Walker Foster has a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Private Client Lawyer to join our existing team. This is ideally a full-time position, but we may have some flexibility to achieve the best appointment. We work across seven sites, and you could be based from any of them (although ideally within travelling distance of Harrogate/Ilkley/Skipton).
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for managing your own Private Client cases as well as working with the wider Private Client team to further grow and expand our business. The successful candidate will handle their own caseload consisting of wills and inheritance tax planning, estate administration, powers of attorney, court of protection work and trusts, and will preferably have knowledge of care funding.
What does the ideal candidate look like?
You will be a Solicitor or Legal Executive, or an experienced Paralegal looking for the next step in their career. What is key is that you possess experience of dealing with a wide range of Private Client matters, a positive outlook and the desire to offer outstanding client service. You will be ambitious and want to join a growing business in which you will have the opportunity to develop and progress to be part of the senior management team. You must also hold a full driving licence.
Skills and Capabilities Required:
Verbal communication: The ability to listen to clients and colleagues and respond in an approachable, respectful and professional manner
Written communication: The ability to communicate clearly concisely and with accurate grammar and punctuation, in a tone which upholds the professional image and brand of Walker Foster
Organisational ability: The ability to own and prioritise tasks and to use your time and resources effectively and efficiently
Strong IT proficiency: Including use of Microsoft Office applications and Case Management Software (ideally Proclaim)
Teamwork: The ability to treat colleagues with respect, and to be supportive and positive in the workplace in order to contribute to a friendly working atmosphere

Legal Assistant (Business & Commercial Team), Harrogate
Competitive salary, dependant on experience
Due to the growth of our Business & Commercial team, Walker Foster has a fantastic opportunity for a legal assistant looking for the next step in their career. This is ideally a full-time position, but we may have some flexibility to achieve the best appointment. We work across seven sites, and you will be based in our Harrogate office.
What will you be doing?
You will provide support to the Senior Solicitor in the Business & Commercial department, in line with our Client and Colleague Charters. This includes:
- Researching legal cases and drafting documents and letters
- Preparation, organisation and archiving of legal files and supporting documentation
- Effective and accurate case management, using Proclaim, and in line with Walker Foster standards and legal requirements
- Digital dictation and diary management
- Handling of client and 3rd party telephone calls, enquiries and requests, ensuring that all are dealt with efficiently and politely and in line with our Client Charter
- Ownership of incoming e-mails, post, photocopying and other administrative duties as required
- Ordering of property searches and carrying out of necessary client ID checks
- Land registry management – registering of completed properties and ongoing follow up
- Preparation of client bills and reading account ledgers
- Preparing and overseeing exchanges and completions, under the supervision of the Fee Earner

You will be an existing legal assistant, or paralegal, with experience of dealing with a wide range of Business & Commercial or Residential property matters.

Legal Assistant (Conveyancing), Harrogate

Due to internal progression, Walker Foster has a fantastic opportunity for a legal assistant/secretary in our Conveyancing Department. This is ideally a full-time position, but we may have some flexibility to achieve the best appointment. We work across seven sites, and you will be based in our Harrogate office.
What will you be doing?
You will provide secretarial and administrative assistance in the conveyancing department, as directed by the conveyancer, and in line with our Client and Colleague Charters. This includes:
- Assistance of conveyancers in the processing of matters in a timely and accurate manner
- Effective and accurate case management, using Proclaim, and in line with Walker Foster standards and legal requirements
- Preparation, organisation and archiving of legal files and supporting documentation
- Digital dictation and diary management
