‘Minefield’ of The New Child Arrangements Process

April 14, 2015

Due to recent changes, the process in relation to Court disputes involving children has changed significantly. The Court is now primarily focussed upon mediation to resolve disputes between the parents, with consideration given to alternative mediation services and parenting courses. Add into this that the other party may be acting in their own right without any legal advice, or attend with what is known as a McKenzie Friend to assist and support them throughout the Court process. Combined with the new Court approach and procedure, it is easy to get lost, if you are concerned about your children and try to represent yourself.

At Walker Foster, we can offer sensible and practical advice. We can attend a Court hearing for you and guide you through the process to the best possible outcome for you and your children. It is not “one size fits all”, and making the right points at the right time is crucial if the Court is involved. You may consider that having a Solicitor to represent you in relation to issues concerning your children is not money well spent. As we offer an initial fixed fee interview at a cost of £60, you have nothing to lose, at the very least obtaining proper advice. You can then make an informed decision in considering whether you would benefit from legal representation in disputes involving your children.
