Divorce : The Dangers of Technology

February 3, 2014

Specialist divorce solicitor, Liz Hebden reports a surge in divorce instructions in the post Christmas period.  This is caused by a number of factors, including stress over the Christmas period, financial worries and a resolution by one party to make a fresh start.  One key factor however is the increased use of technology which now permeates our lives.

Flirty text messages, emails and posts on social networking sites can reveal infidelities, often causing a huge shock to the aggrieved party.

In the instantaneous online world we live in, it is easy to leave behind permanent evidence which may herald the end of a relationship.  If you find yourself in this situation, do not assume that all is lost.

• Speak to RELATE at www.relate.org.uk before speaking to a solicitor.

• Do not allow the children to be aware of the tensions between you.

• If you do require legal advice, speak to a solicitor who is a member of Resolution and follows its Code of Practice, www.resolution.org.uk.

Liz Hebden offers a preliminary consultation for a fixed fee of £50.00 & vat (not time restricted) if you have any issues or concerns relating to your relationship.  Please contact her on 01756 700200 or eah@walkerfoster.com
